Parents of teenagers get used to exhortations like this if they are uncool enough to let slip a bit of exuberance when suggesting family travel plans. But that still leaves the question: how to have a wicked time with youngsters who are too old to trail around with Mum and Dad or join a kids’ club, but not ready to head off to Hanoi with a backpack? Yes, holidays for teens can be fraught, but are less likely to be so if you 1) give them a bit of independence from their parents, and 2) make sure they have opportunities to mix with their peers...
