Carnival Corporation recently announced its intention of increasing its fleet capacity by almost 10% from 2014 all the way through to 2016. This new expansion will result in 4 new ships across 4 different brands in a span of less than 18 months.

Carnival Corporation recently christened two new ships, the Costa Diadema and the Regal Princess. These two new vessels were christened over a three day period, and they represented the latest vessels in the company's fleet, which already consists of more than a hundred ships across nine different cruise brands.

Moreover, in 2015 Carnival Corporation's AIDA and P&O Cruises are expected to each debut a new ship, which means that the company will have a total of four new vessels by late 2015.

All in all, the Carnival Corporation has managed to increase its global fleet size with around 30 new ships since 2007. This successful expansion includes the Regal Princess as well as the Costa Diadema, along with seven other vessels which are expected to be delivered between 2015 and 2017.

Aside from increasing the number of ships that it owns, Carnival Corporation is also in the process of upgrading its fleet leadership with new upgrades for existing vessels, including 17 vessels across six of its brands. These renovated ships are expected to offer an entirely new level of style and comfort with their features, and are tailored to appeal to the preferences of its New Zealand and Australian passengers.

Recently, Princess Cruises officially christened the Regal Princess in a well-attended naming ceremony that featured several cast members of the original "The Love Boat" TV series, all of whom served as the godparents of the newly christened vessel. The Regal Princess will begin her maiden season of cruising the Caribbean by sailing out of Port Everglades in Florida.

As for the Costa Diadema, its naming ceremony was held in Genoa, Italy, where it was christened by its Godmother, Carolina Micelli, the Italian travel agent who is considered as the best person to represent the cruise line's values. Costa Diadema will begin her voyage in the Mediterranean all throughout the summer of 2015.

Aside from the Costa Diadema and the Regal Princess, two Carnival Corporation brands are also expected to debut new ships in 2015. P&O Cruises UK, for example, will introduce Britannia in March, which is considered the biggest ship ever developed for the British cruise market. Also, AIDA, which is a German cruise operator, is expected to christen its new flagship, the AIDAprima, which is already considered as one of the most technologically sophisticated vessels in the world.
