According to Kamoliddin Muminzod, the head of the Tajikistan Tourism Development Committee, around 628,000 foreign nationals visited Tajikistan in the first half of this year. This represents an increase of 181,867 visitors compared to the same period in 2022. Of the total number of visitors, 487,403 were tourists, a 34.2% increase compared to last year. The official noted that around 34,000 visitors came from long-haul destinations, while the remaining 453,000 came from the CIS countries.

It has been reported that Uzbekistan, with over 368,000 visitors, is the country whose citizens visit Tajikistan the most, followed by Russia (around 65,000). Kazakhstan, Turkey, and China are closing the list of the top five source markets.

The head of the Tajikistan Tourism development committee also stated that the average tourist in Tajikistan spends $200-250 per visit. Based on this information, it can be inferred that in 2022 tourism generated more than $250 million; in the first half of 2023, it is projected to surpass $100 million.

In 2022, 999.3 thousand foreign tourists visited the country, which is 3.4 times, or 703 more tourists than in 2021. Tajikistan is expected to receive over 1 million foreign visitors by the end of the year.
