Argentina is the second biggest country in South America. It has a population of about 40 million people. Agriculture and natural resources are very important economically in Argentina, although tourism also plays a big role. There are many attractions for tourists, among them the national parks, the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and the cultural aspects.

Nowadays the country is becoming popular with medical tourists. An important indicator is the quality/price rati, and this proves that Argentina is a good destination for medical tourism.  The peso was devalued in 2002. This makes local services much cheaper than those in sending countries.

The most popular treatments are plastic surgeries. They are often as much as 3 times cheaper than in the U.S.  The country claims to have some of the world’s most experienced plastic surgeons. Mr. Guillermo Blugerman, who is a surgeon at the B&S clinic, says that the quality of their work is not lower than that in the U.S. He also said that Argentinian surgeons are ahead of their European counterparts on some procedures.  Laser liposuction, for example, was developed in Italy, but Argentinians have improved it to make it one of their specialties.

In Argentina there has always been a big demand for plastic surgery. Local women represent a huge market for plastic surgeons. Even today some 60 percent of all procedures are done for residents of this country, one of the reasons why local plastic surgeons have developed their skills so well.
