Commemorating the 125th anniversary of the death of the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh, the tourist boards of the Netherlands, Belgium and France programmed, under the leadership of "Van Gogh Europe", a series of events including exhibitions, meetings, festivals and tours to honor the artist throughout 2015.

The foundation Van Gogh Europe is based on four institutions: the Van Gogh Museum, the Kröller-Müller Museum, Van Gogh Brabant and Mons 2015, the European Capital of Culture in 2015.This alliance brings to date thirty institutions in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and England.

To mark the 125th anniversary of the painter's death (July 29, 1890), various cities in Europe that marked the life and work of Van Gogh offer a program of exhibitions and cultural events with the theme "125 Years of Inspiration."

In Holland, the tourist office has honored 10 highlights. Among them, the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo offers Van Gogh & Co. This exhibition showcases more than fifty paintings and drawings by Van Gogh. For its part, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is organizing a unique exhibition of Vincent van Gogh and Edvard Munch. This event presents, for the first time, many parallels in the works of both artists.

In France, the actors are also mobilized. In partnership with the Regional Tourism Committee Paris Ile-de-France, cultural actors of Auvers-sur-Oise concocted a thematic program "In the Footsteps of Van Gogh" to be held from April 4 to September 20, 2015. It was at Auvers-sur-Oise, where the painter died in tragic circumstances. Visitors will be able to discover the latest Van Gogh's bedroom, miraculously preserved in the attic of the Auberge Ravoux.

In Belgium, the Museum of Fine Arts in Mons will offer an exhibition of nearly 70 paintings, drawings and seven original letters of Van Gogh from various international collections, including loans of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo.
