MAUI TOURISM SPARKS ANGER AMID FIRE RUINS

And yet, many other Maui residents have expressed gratitude to tourists who still come and spend money and keep salaries flowing. Maui hotels and the Hawaii Visitors Bureau are sending emails to travel agents asking that we encourage our clients to not cancel their plans to visit the unaffected areas of the island.

I absolutely understand the feelings of the residents of Lahaina and Kula who have lost everything, but stopping the flow of funds to the island is not helpful. Instead, highlight how visitors can assist in the recovery efforts and support the victims of the fires.
