Hilton will strengthen its position in China. A Hilton Hotels Corp subsidiary will manage the 324-room Hilton hotel at the Beijing Capital Airport. According to the company’s plans the facility will be operational in the third quarter of 2008. This hotel will be the fourth Hilton hotel in Beijing. According to Koos Klein, the president of Hilton Hotels Corporation - Asia Pacific, the company has rich experience with operating airport hotels. Hilton actually runs facilities at seven of the world’s top 10 busiest airports. The company’s officials see China as a developing destination that will continue to lure both leisure and business travelers. Also the upcoming Olympic Games will increase the number of visitors.

The hotel will be located at the new Beijing Capital International Airport’s Terminal 3. This terminal will serve to international flights and all flights operated by Air China. All three terminals are expected to handle 78 million passengers per year, which will make it a really busy place. Beijing is a known MICE destination too. Approximately 45% of all Chinese MICE events took place here. The hotel will be therefore in an excellent location as it will be near the new China International Exhibition Center, which opened in March 2008. This facility will presumably even strengthen the Beijing’s MICE sector.

The hotel itself will include 324 rooms. All the rooms will be a minimum of 40 sq meters. There will be 5 restaurants. The hotel will include a lobby lounge, piano bar and wine and cigar bars. Some MICE events could take place here as the facility will provide 1,600 sq meters of meeting rooms. Guests will have possibility to relax in swimming pool or in the hotel spa. More active customers may take a fancy in the 800 sq meter ballroom.
