TOURISM DEMAND GROWTH IN HURGHADA AND SHARM EL-SHEIKH

Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport witnessed the highest operating rate of Egyptian tourist airports during the first half of 2023, as nearly 3 million and 250 thousand passengers arrived at Hurghada International Airport with a total of 22 thousand flights, an increase of 30.5% compared to the same period last year, as part of the current preparations to receive the summer season this year, and in light of the noticeable increase witnessed by airports in Egyptian tourist attractions.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport witnessed the arrival of two million and 250 thousand passengers with a total of 16 thousand flights, an increase of 28% compared to last year.

According to the Airports Council International (ACI) annual report on the aviation industry's performance in Africa in 2022, Sharm El Sheikh Airport was ranked among the best and finest airports in terms of services provided to tourists, which is an achievement for the aviation sector.

The report added that Hurghada International Airport came in fifth place among the top ten airports in terms of the number of passengers, which confirms that the passenger obtained the best travel experience from Hurghada Airport, in line with the development work by establishing a new passenger terminal to serve international and domestic flights, with a capacity of 7.5 million passengers annually, bringing the airport's capacity to 13 million passengers annually, to eliminate any congestion or congestion, as well as the airport witnessed the establishment of a new runway with a length of 4 km parallel to the runway.

Hurghada Airport witnessed a substantial boom in the number of passengers by obtaining a first place at the airport in the number of passengers and aircraft for the third month after it renewed its license for three years.
