Greece launches arrival fee for cruise guests

Between June 1 and September 30—the bustling high season—a new port fee comes into play: generally five euros. However, for those hopping off at iconic destinations like Mykonos and Santorini, expect a higher charge of 20 euros. Now, shifting gears a bit, in the shoulder months of October, April, and May, shore excursions will cost three and twelve euros, respectively. And finally, come November through March, when things quiet down, the fee drops to one euro, and four euros for those visiting Mykonos and Santorini, respectively.

It's anticipated this new structure will generate approximately 50 million euros. The Greek government is aiming for this to gently nudge cruise lines toward scheduling more off-season visits, ultimately easing the strain on ports during the busiest times.
