With France’s first long weekend of the year coming up, Kayak has just dropped some fresh search data for Easter 2025. Flight findings are on an upswing, even though prices have jumped noticeably. Car rentals are gaining traction too—almost as if people are craving the freedom to wander on their own terms. All in all, it appears that there’s a strong draw to short, easy Easter destinations with lovely weather, rich culture, and delicious food.

Popular Easter Destinations and Price Trends in 2025

Marrakech is really stealing the spotlight this year, showing an 86% boost in interest compared to last time around. Then you have Rome with a 47% climb, Lisbon up by 67%, and Barcelona clocking in with a solid 101% increase. Oddly enough, Palma de Mallorca tops it all with a whopping 283% surge. Some experts say that places like Marrakech and Palma de Mallorca appeal because they mix sunny climes with a mix of exciting activities, cultural vibes, and plenty of food adventures.

Spanish cities are keeping things lively as well—Seville jumps 102%, Madrid is up by 46%, and Barcelona still lands a spot in the top 10. Even capitals like London and Porto stay on the French radar, with increases of 28% and 72%, respectively. Of course, rising search demand comes with rising ticket costs. Overall, flight prices are about 60% higher than in 2024. Round-trip fares to Marrakech are up nearly 178%, while journeys to Lisbon and Rome have climbed 82% and 64%. And take New York—the only non-European contender on the list – which not only saw a search surge of 189% but now carries an average ticket price near €665. Still, despite these steeper fares, flight searches on Kayak have risen by roughly 90%.

Easter Holidays 2025: Car Rentals Demand in Europe Remains Strong

Shifting gears to car rentals, it’s clear that more and more travelers are leaning toward independent adventures. In France, searches have increased by 109%; in Spain, by 168%, Italy by 253%, and even Portugal by 95%. Generally speaking, this trend hints at a growing wish to see places at one’s own pace; something is appealing about that extra bit of comfort and freedom, especially during the busy travel seasons.

Daily rental prices are holding pretty steady in France, nudging just 1% higher to around €69. In Spain, though, it moves from €36 to about €40, a 12% shift. Italy’s costs have leaped from €28 to €36 (that's around 28%), while in Portugal, the average sits at roughly €29—up about 27% from before. The ready access to rental cars, combined with destinations renowned for their climate and charm, seems to support this shift toward shorter, more flexible trips. In effect, the car is turning into a vital tool of mobility for tourists who prefer a bit of spontaneity on their journeys.
