Among the best 20 airlines in the world in terms of average on-time performance for the year 2014, it seems that the top notch timelines have been achieved by the carriers in Europe. Thirteen of these airlines are European. The rest are from other areas, five from Asia-Pacific and two are from the United States.
According to a report by the aviation tracking company called OAG, the winner of 2014 for overall on-time performance is the low cost carrier airBaltic, from Latvia. This carrier had an OTP of 94.90 percent for 2014. It is also a winner for all European carriers during the same year. For the month of October of the same year, the carrier had the best on-time performance for low cost airlines.
Japan Airlines was the best in terms of on-time performance for the year 2014 in the Asia-Pacific zone. This company was also among the first 5 airlines for the month of November. On the second place in the report from OAG is Hawaiian Airlines, with a percentage of 92.3 and the company was the best of all from the United States for 2014. It is one of the two airlines that reached the top 20, the other one being Alaska Airlines with 88.5 percent.
Saudia Arabian Airlines is in the top 20 with percentage 89.4 and also in the ninth place for the top 20 airlines of November. Saudia is the only carrier in the Middle East that reached the top 20 of all carriers in the world for best on-time performance. Another airline from the Middle East with good timelines is Emirates, ranked third in the region.
On the other hand, the worst carrier for on-time performance from the report is Etihad, with a percentage of 56.8, despite the fact that the company provides the most luxurious suites.
