In 2006, 1.7 million tourists were welcomed in Cambodia, bringing with them much needed revenue of around 1.4 billion US dollars. The major attraction in the country today is the Angkor-Wat archaeological complex in Siem Reap. This is a fascinating arrangement of ancient temples, indeed Cambodia’s most prominent feature. Over half of the tourists to visit the country visited this site at some point during their stay. Although most come from fellow Asian countries, there was a significant number of visitors from different parts of the globe.

Cambodia is also able to offer tourists a wider range of sporting activities. These include jungle trekking, mountain trekking, island hopping, snorkelling and climbing. Exotic and authentic way of life in Cambodia appeal to tourists and tourist agencies offer tours around villages to experience it.
