Jungle surfing is a unique and exciting eco-adventure activity that gives tourists in Australia the opportunity to explore the Daintree Rainforest in a whole new way. The jungle surfing route consists of a series of secure tree platforms that are connected to flying fox zip lines, which you ride along above the ground.

After being secured with a harness, the ride is controlled for you, so you can enjoy your tour through the canopy hands-free. By jungle surfing through the Daintree Rainforest, visitors will get a chance to experience it first-hand with a spectacular view. The Daintree Rainforest, a World Heritage Site, has long been a popular natural attraction. Situated in Australia’s Far North Queensland, the Daintree Rainforest is said to be the world’s oldest tropical rainforest, over 100 million years old. The rainforest is home to plants that come from all major evolutionary stages, as well as diverse fauna, with hundreds of different species. In fact, there are about 430 species of birds that grace the rainforest, and 13 of them are unique to the rainforest.

The jungle surfing canopy tour through the ancient Daintree Rainforest is led by professional guides, who are experienced with abseiling and science. Each tour group has a maximum of 13 participants, with 3 tour guides to a group. The guides are there to control your ride through the canopy, but also for visitors to learn more about the wonders of the rainforest. They give a talk at each of the platforms, where you’ll also have the perfect opportunity to take photos and enjoy the breathtaking views.

The tour lasts about two hours, with more than an hour of the time spent in the midst of the forest. It starts with the “Human Hamster Wheel”, where riders hoist each other up to the tree platform where you'll start off the tour. Riders have the option to choose whether they want a slow or fast flight through the jungle, and the guides will be the ones controlling your flight and speed.

You will get to make your way through the different canopy levels, looking over the treetops, running creeks, as well as the nearby Great Barrier Reef, another World Heritage Site and spectacular natural landmark of Australia. You get to look, hear and smell the rainforest while being in the thick of it, with a bird's eye view. The 6 tree platforms you go through vary in height, from 3.5 m to 19.5 m. The distance between each platform varies as well, with the longest being over 75 m.

While jungle surfing is no doubt an adventurous and thrilling experience, it’s suitable for all, from the age of 3 to 103. The adult harness can accommodate people up to 120 kg in weight. No experience is necessary to enjoy jungle surfing, and all equipment, including the harness and helmet, is provided for you. Also, because it's an all-weather activity, you can expect to go jungle surfing in rain or shine. Visitors should make sure they wear appropriate clothing, which means no skirts, as well as secure footwear. If it's rainy weather, it's recommended you bring spare clothes. Cameras can be brought along and securely attached to your harness.

Jungle surfing is a fun and stimulating one-of-a-kind experience of one of the world’s greatest and most ancient rainforests. Tours are offered 8 times a day from Cape Tribulation.
