The average price for an overnight stay in Spain is 124 Euros in August, according to figures from the monthly tHPI survey produced by the hotels search engine Trivago.es. The survey indicates that the town of Puerto Rico (Gran Canary) is the country’s most affordable destination, with an average price of 77 Euros per night.

Among the top 10 destinations in the rankings are towns in the Canaries and Andalusia for the most part, with northern destinations such as Portonovo (82 Euros) or Suances (108 Euros) standing out as being among the most affordable.

As they did last month, destinations in the Balearic Islands and Andalusia dominate the other end of the rankings, with Santa Eulalia (Ibiza) being the most expensive, having an average price of 391 Euros per night.

At the top of the table, though with lower prices, are Platja d'en Bossa (340 Euros) and Marbella (308 Euros). Popular destinations in La Manga (213 Euros), Costa Adeje (214 Euros) and Altea (201 Euros) also report higher average prices.

While the trend is for prices to rise by about 20%, there are destinations where they are soaring. This is the case of Conil de la Frontera, where prices rose by 90.65%, going from 107 to 204 Euros, and also the case of Zahara with an average of 245 Euros this month compared to the 147 Euros it cost to stay overnight in July, which represents a 66.67% increase.

In contrast, prices fell only in Cala Ratjada (-4.79%), Benicàssim (-2.63%) and Puerto Rico (-2.53%), while in Portonovo they are still at the same level as in July.

According to Trivago, it is normal for prices to move up during the high season, not only because of increases by some hotels and agencies, but also because currently only the upscale rooms or luxury hotels are available.Spain: EUR 124 Is the Average Price for a Hotel Room
