Russian travelers consider Germans as the most troublesome tourists according to a survey of a Russian portal. Ukrainians and the British gained the second and third positions.
The Research Center of the Russian portal SuperJob.ru announced the results of their latest study. In an interview of 1000 respondents who spent their holidays in 2009 abroad, they asked who the worst tourists are according to them. Most of the respondents pointed at Germans.
According to the portal, the study was inspired by the results of a last year’s British survey where Russians were labeled by international tourists as the worst hotel guests. "In response to this survey, our Research Center decided to find out who the Russians want to meet the least in the overseas resorts and hotels," said Anna Chukseeva, spokeswoman of SuperJob.ru, quoted by Tourprom.ru.
The results show that according to 19% of Russians, the people who deserve the title of the worst tourists are Germans, who "drink a lot," "are rude," "occupy loungers early in the morning and sing loudly in bars" according to the respondents. Second place in the ranking was reached by Ukrainians, who obtained 11% of the votes by Russian travelers. The respondents criticized Ukrainians for the lack of respect to other cultures, attitudes, and traditions.
Closely following were the British who gained the bronze medal (10%). The respondents considered them as the worst holiday-makers and pointed out especially their tediousness, violent temper and arrogance. Surprisingly, 9% of the interviewed Russians labeled the members of their own nation as the most annoying travelers. The respondents criticized Russian tourists for being uncivilized, loud and drinking too much.
According to the survey 2% of respondents had not experienced any bad behavior of tourists when they were abroad. 22% of the participants on the other hand found it difficult to answer stating that the behavior of international tourists does not wholly depend on the nationality but rather on their education.
