The users of TripAdvisor web server chose Prague’s hotel Golden Well (U Zlate studne) as the best hotel in the world. No US hotel appeared in the top ten whereas six of the best hotels were in Europe.

Golden Well is only a small hotel in the Lesser Town in Prague which is not a part of any big hotel chains. There are only twelve rooms and most clients stay there on special occasions such as weddings or engagements. As Ceskenoviny.cz reported, guests appreciate the location of the hotel that is directly next to the Prague Castle walls.

Guests also like the quality service provided by the local personnel who among other things offer ‘pillow menu’. Guests can choose from seven different kinds of pillows and also decide upon the way their bed will be made. Another special treat that is provided by the hotel’s staff are special deserts made by the chef which are served after dinner.

The hotel, which received the award as the best luxury hotel in the world last year in the same survey, also has a rich history. The well-known astronomer Tycho Brahe who stayed at the court of Rudolf II of Austria visited the hotel in 16th century. Rooms are decorated in the Richelieu style. Prices range from 254 to 700 euro a night.

Guests also praise the meals served there. The restaurant Golden Well Terrace even appeared on the second place in the restaurant category of the TripAdvisor survey. Surprisingly, no US hotel made it into the top hotels. While Europe has six hotels in the top ten, Africa, the Caribbean, South America and Asia have only one each.
